The Datto Node - A Blog for MSPs, VARs and the Channel

Quite often, I hear Partners and people in the Channel remark about how incredible Datto's growth has been over the past few years. Often, our success is attributed to our award-winning technology. That's only partially correct. Datto's success can also be attributed to the personnel that work here. A company's greatest assets is it's employees. But for a company that develops technology, where do you find the right people? 

This past week, Datto was been at HTG Summit in Dallas, Texas! We had the chance to meet a lot of partners and had a blast going out to Ocean Prime! Congratulations to Dan Saxby, the VP and Client Services Manager for FSN (Full Service Networking) in Cincinnati, OH, for winning the AR.Drone Quadricoptor! Thanks to everyone who attended Austin's profit seminar. We hope you found it valuable and informative! 

Oftentimes, MSPs fail to take into account the true total cost of ownership for business continuity solutions. While the costs of monthly service and devices may appear to be affordable, service providers are sometimes caught off-guard when additional fees are charged for certain services they assumed were complimentary (e.g off-site virtualizations). Failing to do an exhaustive assessment of the TCO of a solution can cause issues and greatly affect the margins on your business continuity revenue streams if you didn't price your service to account for extra fees.

If you're anything like employees at Datto, a rush of excitement comes with the announcement of new versions of the software you use every day. When Windows 8 Beta Consumer Review was released at the end of February, we were happy to see what the next Windows platform would look like. Of course, checking it out wasn't just to satisfy our own curiosity; we imagine that many of our Partners will be transitioning to Windows 8 in the future, and felt it was best to look under the hood beforehand.
